Minor league report - Nailers force Game 7

A goal by forward Jarrett Burton with 1:18 remaining in overtime gave the Wheeling Nailers a 4-3 road win against the South Carolina Stingrays Monday in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference final of the Kelly Cup playoffs. The best-of-seven series is tied, 3-3.

Forward Anton Zlobin scored two goals for Wheeling while forwards Riley Brace and Cody Wydo each added two assists. Goaltender Brian Foster made 31 saves in the victory.

Game 7 will be played at South Carolina Tuesday, 7:05 p.m.

Goaltender Brian Foster made 35 saves for the Wheeling Nailers in a 3-1 loss to the South Carolina Stingrays in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference final of the Kelly Cup playoffs. South Carolina leads the best-of-seven series, 3-2.

Forward Cody Wydo scored Wheeling’s lone goal.

Game 6 will be played at South Carolina Monday, 7:05 p.m.

Forwards Riley Brace and Ty Loney each had a goal and an assist for the Wheeling Nailers in a 4-2 home loss to the South Carolina Stingrays in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference final of the Kelly Cup playoffs. The best-of-seven series is tied, 2-1.

Goaltender Franky Palazzese made 21 saves for Wheeling

Game 5 will be played Saturday at Wheeling, 7:35 p.m.

Forward Derek Army had a goal and an assist for the Wheeling Nailers in a 2-1 home win against the South Carolina Stingrays in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference final of the Kelly Cup playoffs. Wheeling leads the best-of-seven series, 2-1.

Forward Brace Riley recorded two assists for Wheeling while forward Jarrett Burton also scored a goal. Goaltender Franky Palazzese made 18 saves in the victory.

Game 4 will be played Friday at Wheeling, 7:35 p.m.

Minor league report - Penguins' season ends with Game 7 loss

Goaltender Casey DeSmith made 21 saves for the WIlkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins who had their season come to an end with a 3-2 overtime road loss to the Hershey Bears in Game 7 of the Atlantic Division final Sunday.

Center Dustin Jeffrey recorded two assists for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton while left winger Kael Mouillierat and right winger Matthias Plachta each scored goals.

Hershey will face either the Albany Devils or Toronto Marlies in the Eastern Conference final.
