Some news, numbers and nuggets in advance of the Penguins’ game against the New York Rangers tonight at 7:08 at Madison Square Garden:

*** Penguins defenseman Olli Maatta will not play tonight because of an unspecified injury sustained during their 3-2 victory against Ottawa Saturday. He did not accompany the team to New York. Penguins defenseman Robert Bortuzzo will rejoin the lineup after completing his two-game suspension for a late hit on New Jersey winger Jaromir Jagr.

*** New York is on a 6-0-1 roll inside the Metropolitan Division.

*** Coach Mike Johnston said that winger Patric Hornqvist, who will miss his second game in a row, continues to undergo tests and that he expects to have an update on Hornqvist Tuesday.

*** Penguins are 9-2-1 on the road, including a 5-0 loss at Madison Square Garden Nov. 11.

*** Rangers winger Tann Glass, a former Penguins, will return to the lineup tonight after missing four games because of mumps.

*** Penguins defenseman Kris Letang participated in the game-day skate, but will not play because of a groin injury. Johnston said he expects him to be more involved in practice Tuesday, but to be held out of contact drills.

*** New York is 4-1-3 in its past eight regular-season games against the Penguins, and 3-0-1 in the past four at the Garden.

*** Penguins goalie Marc-Andre Fleury has won 15 of his first 20 starts, the second time in his career he has done so.
