IIHF World Championship report - Crosby, Canada win gold

Penguins captain/center Sidney Crosby had a goal and an assist for Canada in a 6-1 rout of Russia in the IIHF World Championship gold medal game in the Czech Republic.

Canada, which won the tournament for the first time since 2007, finished with a 10-0 record.

Crosby became the 26th player to join the “Triple Gold” club having won the the Stanley Cup, an Olympic tournament and now an IIHF World Championship tournanemt.

Penguins center Evgeni Malkin scored Russia’s only goal.

In the bronze medal game, Jets goaltending prospect Connor Hellebucyk made 39 saves for the United States in a 3-0 shutout of the Czech Republic.
