Minor league report - Penguins sweep Bruins

Two goals, including one in overtime, and two assists by center Jake Guentzel gave the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins a series-clinching 5-4 road win against the Providence Bruins in Game 3 of their Atlantic Division semifinal series. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton swept the series, 3-0.

Defenseman Tim Erixon had a goal and two assists for the Penguins while right winger Daniel Sprong added a goal and an assist. Center Dominik Simon scored Wilkes-Barre/Scranton’s other goal by while goaltender Casey DeSmith made 59 saves in the victory.

The Penguins will face either the Hershey Bears or Portland Pirates in the division final.

Two goals by forward Riley Brace led the Wheeling Nailers to a 4-3 home win against the Florida Everblades in Game 5 of their Eastern Conference quarterfinal series. Wheeling leads the best-of-seven series, 3-2.

Defenseman Mathew Maione netted a goal and two assists for the Nailers while forward Ty Loney added a goal and an assist. Goaltender Brian Foster made 26 saves in the victory.

Game 5 will be played Monday at Florida, 7:30 p.m.
