NOTES from Clint Hurdle:
*Hurdle said this afternoon the thinking is that Gerrit Cole will make not one, but two rehab starts in the minors before rejoining the club. The plan is for him to throw from 80 to 85 pitches on Monday, then progress to around 100 pitches in his second rehab start before being reinstated.
*Gregory Polanco has been bumped down from leadoff to No. 7 in the order tonight. Polanco‘s splits vs. left-handers are not good. He’s batting just .125 with a .176 on-base percentage.
Hurdle said the hope is the change of scenery will help alleviate some pressure and allow Polanco to see his teammates bat before his turn in the order comes up.
*Pedro Alvarez is available off the bench tonight, as is Travis Snider who Hurdle revealed had been on the shelf with a hamstring problem for the last several days.
