Looking at the sacks from the wild card game

OK, some of you asked for a sack recap from the wild card game against the Ravens. Here it is:

Sack 1 – (3.93 seconds) Roethlisberger misses an open Will Johnson in the flat and double pumps. But by the time he does that, Terrell Suggs bull rushes Kelvin Beachum into Roethlisberger, who stepped up into the pocket. When he stepped up, Haloti Ngata got off Ramon Foster’s block and made the sack. This one is on Beachum for getting pushed into the lap of Roehtlisberger. The Ravens rushed four.

Sack 2 – (3.01 seconds) It’s third-and-11 and Roethlisberger is looking down the field to get a first down. He decides not to throw to an open Antonio Brown five yards down the field. As he scans the field, Elvis Dumervil rips past Marcus Gilbert to get the sack. The Ravens rushed four.

Sack 3 – (3.15 seconds) It’s first-and goal at the 10. The Ravens rush four. Foster oversets and allows Ngata to make an inside move. Ngata collapses the pocket and pushes Foster into Maurkice Pouncey, who was blocking Brandon Williams one-on-one. Williams slides off Pouncey’s block because of the collapse and sacks Rosthlisberger.

Sack 4 – (2.21 seconds) It’s third-and-5 from an empty set. The Ravens have six at the line of scrimmage and rush five with a middle linebacker dropping into coverage at the snap. Dumervil comes untouched off the edge as Gilbert blocks down on blitzing linebacker CJ Mosley and right guard David DeCastro blocks down on the defensive tackle. Roethlisberger either had to get rid of the ball quickly or call a timeout. He did neither and was a sitting duck.

Sack 5 – (2.4 seconds) – It’s second-and 14. Mike Adams is in at right tackle for Gilbert. Courtney Upshaw makes easy work of Adams and runs right past him for the sack. Roethlisberger attempted to step up into the pocket to elude Upshaw, which had collapsed again because Foster allowed Pernell McPhee an inside rush and picked off Pouncey again. That allowed Ngata to help clean up the sack.
