Steelers Target Chargers Tight End

By Ed Bouchette 8 years ago

Ladarius Green, a young tight end with the San Diego Chargers, apparently is the first free agent the Steelers have targeted to sign as a replacement for the retired Heath Miller.

Green, 25, “is expected to sign” with the Steelers, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. A Steelers source told the Post-Gazette that while Green indeed is a target, he would not go as far as to predict he would sign.

The Steelers liked the 6-6 Green as a rookie from Louisiana Lafayette in 2012, when the Chargers drafted him in the fourth round. He has since caught 77 passes for 1,087 yards and seven touchdowns over his four seasons in San Diego.

He had his best season last year when he caught 37 passes for 429 yards and four touchdowns. Green was born in Berlin, Germany.

The official signing period starts at 4 p.m. today.
