Bryant finding a groove

Martavis Bryant had a good weekend of practice and today he gets another chance to show what he can do. His coaches told their tall rookie receiver this morning that he will be taking more snaps with Ben Roethlisberger so he can get more familiar with catching passes from him.

“I feel good about it,’’ Bryant told me. “I just want to go out and execute and make sure I know what I’m doing. They want to see how much I know so I just have to go out there and make sure I do my best, try not to stress so much, just have some fun.”

Bryant, who is 6 feet 4, is a fourth-round draft pick who is not being discounted as a starter. Antonio Brown, of course, will be one but while Markus Wheaton is listed as No. 2 and assumed to stay No. 2, there is nothing that says a rookie cannot come in and take that job away from him.

Bryant will have to show his coaches that they can trust him to run all the routes, get on the same wave length with Roethlisberger and perform. Today will be a big step in that process for him.
