Minor league report - Murray sets Penguins' shutout record

Goaltender Matt Murray made 18 saves for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins (32-18-2-4) in a 7-0 road shutout of the Bridgeport Sound Tigers Sunday.

Murray recorded his eighth shutout of the season and broke Wilkes-Barre/Scranton’s single-season record for shutouts. Brad Thiessen previously set the mark with seven shutouts in 2010-11.

Right winger Josh Archibald scored two goals for the Penguins while defenseman Brian Dumoulin and center Andrew Ebbett each netted a goal and two assists.

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton’s next game is Friday on the road against the Manchester Monarchs, 7 p.m.

The Wheeling Nailers’ home game against the Greenville Road Warriors was canceled due to ice conditions at WesBanco Arena. The game has been rescheduled for Monday, 6 p.m.
