Late Saturday night, the NHL's department of player safety announced Penguins defenseman Deryk Engelland will have an in-person disciplinary hearing for a hit to the head of Red Wings forward Justin Abdelkader.

At 19:30 of the first period in Saturday's 4-1 road win against the Red Wings, Engelland struck Abdelkader and injured him. Engelland was given a match penalty for the game while Abdelkader left the game.

Red Wings coach Mike Babcock did not provide an update on Abdelkader's health but said he will undergo testing for a concussion and will skip Sunday's game against the Lightning.

Engelland has been suspended one time in his NHL career. In December of 2011, he struck Blackhawks forward Marcus Kruger in the head and was suspended three games.
