Optional practice

The Penguins held an optional practice today in Columbus. Many of the regulars did not skate.

Two notable players on the ice were winger Brian Gibbons, who was injured Wednesday in Game 2 of the Penguins playoff series against Columbus, and Marcel Goc, who has been skating but not practicing as he recovers from an ankle injury. It's possible those two only practiced because it was optional.

Here's who was on the ice: forwards Tanner Glass, Taylor Pyatt, Lee Stempniak, Chris Conner, Craig Adams, Joe Vitale, Gibbons, Goc and Jayson Megna; defensemen Olli Maatta, Rob Scuderi, Deryk Engelland and Robert Bortuzzo; and goaltenders Jeff Zatkoff and Tomas Vokoun.

The Blue Jackets had an even more lightly attended optional practice.
