Alabama safety Landon Collins, who is considered the top safety available in the NFL draft, is among four college prospects visiting the Steelers today. The others are cornerback Dexter McDonald of Kansas, linebacker Davis Tull of Tennessee-Chatanooga and defensive end Preston Smith of Mississippi.

Collins (6-0, 228) is the No. 20 overall prospect according to Rob Rang of CBS. This is a weak draft for safeties, and Collins is considered to be far and away the best one available for NFL teams this year.

McDonald is the ninth cornerback the Steelers brought in for a visit. McDonald is the No. 37 on CBS’ list of cornerbacks and is projected as a seventh-round pick or undrafted free agent.

Tull (6-2, 246) is the No. 8 outside linebacker available and one of the best prospects this year out of Division I-AA. He is projected as a third- or fourth-round pick. He has been hampered by a hamstring injury that forced him to skip the NFL combine. When he did test at Chatanooga’s pro day he ran the 40-yard dash in 4.57 seconds.

Smith (6-5, 271) is the No. 6 defensive end available and is projected as a second-round pick.

Today was the final day for college prospects to visit with NFL teams. The Steelers brought in 29 prospects for visits this spring. They will now hunker down for the next week and do their final preparations before next Thursday’s draft.
